2 years ago today, Holden came home from his 3 week stay in the PICU. At the time, I couldn’t imagine staying any longer than that, and I still can’t, but now I have met many parents who have had to stay so much longer. My heart and prayers go out to them. We had plenty of nice nurses and doctors, but after 3 weeks I was ready to lose it on a nice nurse. When they told us we could go home that day, I was so excited, which was followed by the extreme anxiety of taking this little heart warrior home. Before leaving the hospital I was a total mess. Dustin and I had to learn how to deal meds, how to make formula, and how to live life with a fragile baby with CHD.
Today, Holden, Corbyn, and I went for a nature hike behind our house, played in the water table, and then they swung on the swings with Daddy– So different from 2 years ago.
